Ian's Windfall

I have written previously about my lack of weaving mojo.  Somewhere in the exhaustion and overwhelm of COVID it vanished.  That coupled with the increasing severity of my tremors prompted me to sell almost all my looms, weaving tools and yarns.  I didn't look back and followed my desire to quilt.    I continued to follow tapestry weavers and admire their work.

Enter Hurricane Ian, my son Ryan and Sheila Hicks.  Let me explain.  When I retired July 1 of this year my son gave me a truly inspired gift.  Sheila Hicks Weaving as Metaphor.  It is amazing to me as Ryan is not familiar with tapestry weaving other than seeing my work.

Friday night thanks to Ian we lost power for twelve hours.  The perfect opportunity to delve into this book by flashlight.  I was intrigued and inspired.  Saturday morning, I immediately got out my C. Cactus Flower loom (the only loom I still own) got warped and weaving.

This is Ian's Windfall.  This small tapestry is reflective of the physical windfall from the storm and the windfall opportunity to fall in love with wedge weave all over again.  Thank you to Ryan, Sheila Hicks and Ian.
